29% of BC children arrive at kindergarten developmentally vulnerable.

pg2.jpgHow does reaching newborns and their families impact this statistic?

Research by the Council for Early Child Development tells us that newborn experiences significantly matter. The relationship between caregiver and infant plays a pivotal role in influencing the neural pathways for language and higher cognitive functions, especially within the first 12 months of a child’s life.

Introducing families to quality information and resources that influence how they interact with their newborn is critical to improving the child’s subsequent life chance.

Why does this matter to business?

The stock of human capital in British Columbia is key to its long-term economic success. This means early childhood development is a critical issue for business leaders, because the years before age six set in motion factors that will determine the quality of the future labour force.
